How to read NCIC/GCIC Returns
We realize that no one actually trains officers or court clerks how to read a return, so we wanted to break some information down to make them easier to digest. We've attached a cleansed version of a NCIC/GCIC return and broke it into sections, explaining everything about how to read the header to how we extract information and use it in subsequent returns. We have changed the Personally Identifiable Information (PII) on the return to abide by CJIS Security Policy Standards and keep it legal!
Please let us know if you have any questions. We want to help everyone understand the returns, how they can be used for your specific role at your agency, and why we provide the full return from NCIC and GCIC. Our Support Team is more than happy to assist you,
www.justice-one.net, or feel free to enter a ticket requesting additional information on custom training options for your agency, both virtual and on-site.
