Preparing and Maintaining a New Machine for use with JusticeONE

Preparing and Maintaining a New Machine for use with JusticeONE

  • Fully install Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit version (Professional or Enterprise version recommended).
    • Do not use an image that already has JusticeONE Mobile installed to install Windows.  Doing so will cause records (reports, citations, etc.) to be permanently overwritten by the new machine as it is used, and the original records will be unrecoverable.
  •  Perform Windows Update (all critical and optional updates).

  •  Join the PC to the domain (if applicable).

  •  Set the device name per agency or IT naming standards.

  •  Set system time and time zone accurately (Failure to do this can lead to issues entering times & dates on records).

  •  Create a local user or domain account for the assigned user(s).

  • Perform a fresh Restart (not Shut Down) of the machine before installing JusticeONE Mobile (note that "Shut Down" does not perform the same action as Restart on most machines).

  • We recommend that every machine that does not contain ECC memory (most workstations / laptops do not contain ECC memory) be restarted daily.  This is a leading cause of issues with JusticeONE and JusticeONE Mobile, as well as many other applications.

    • You can check uptime by opening Windows Task Manager, and selecting "Performance" - "CPU" and looking at the "Up time" value.  It is displayed in Days:Hours:Minutes:Seconds.  The machine illustrated below has an uptime of 0 Days, 15 hours, 48 minutes and 20 seconds.

  • We highly recommend that business-class antimalware protection be in place on the machine prior to use.
