Reading your NCIC Audit Log Results

Reading your NCIC Audit Log Results

Questions often come up about how to review the Audit logs for searches run through JusticeONE® NCIC (formerly Shield of Justice).  We'd like to assist you with some knowledge to understand the Audit report.

First, let's talk about how searches are run in Mobile RMS.  When running a Vehicle Registration (RQ), the system reads the return looking for registered owner information.  As an example, the State of Georgia returns a Customer ID that we can format and automatically run a Driver Query (DQ).  When OLN or enough information about the owner is present in the return, we automatically run the Registered Owner.  Once the Driver Query is returned, we look for specific information in that return to run the Registered Owner by Name/DOB/Sex in order to pick up any wants/warrant hits.

So here's what a search would look like that shows the information in a chain reaction search:

Explanation of each line:

Line 1:  Vehicle Query            Ran tag, from specified IP address, using a specified ORI, under user name.  Details contain the information entered in order to run the search. You can hover over to see the detail, in this case TAG number or download and expand the row.  It was ran on 2025-03-21 at (T) for Time 18:32:16
Line 2:  Sent to State              Sent to the State Repository from the specified IP address, specified ORI, specified user name for the query ID contained inside the details.                                                                                                                                      . It was sent on 2025-03-21 at 18:32:16
Line 3:  Driver Query               Hover over to see the information sent to the State Repository, in this case GCIC.  You'll see the OLN pulled from the field Customer ID from a GA Tag return.                                                                                                        It was automatically sent on 2025-03-21 at 18:32:34
Line 4:  Sent to State               Sent to the State Repository.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 It was sent on 2025-03-21 at 18:32:34
Line 5:   Driver Query              Hover over to see the detail information sent to the State Repository.  In this line you would see Name/DOB/Sex from the previous DQ return.  This search is only ran if all information is present in the return.                    It was automatically sent on 2025-03-21 at 18:32:58
Line 6:   Sent to State              Sent to the State Repository.   This is the search that will also return Wants/Warrants/Immigration/Parole and Probation information.  Most warrants don't include OLN.                                                                                   It was sent on 2025-03-21 at 18:32:58
