Common Submission Errors
Cargo Theft must be populated with Yes or No for certain offenses, including Bribery,
Burglary, Embezzlement, Fraud, Robbery, and Theft.
Value of Property cannot be zero except for Credit/Debit Cards, Identity Documents,
Identity-Intangible, Nonnegotiable Instrument, or Documents - Personal or Business.
Estimated Drug Quantity and Type of Drug Measurement must be entered when the
Property Loss is “Seized” and a Suspected Drug Type is entered.
Relationship of Victim to Offender must be entered when an Offender is known; if the
Offender is Unknown, the relationship must be “Relationship Unknown”.
The Domestic Violence indicator is required on all Crimes Against Person and Crimes Against Property.
Note: Errors may prevent an incident from being included in the FBI or state NIBRS databases; warnings should be reviewed and corrected if necessary.
